Mission
To remain ever committed to excellence in all endeavours related to imparting education and training to youth in management and related disciplines so as to facilitate their gainful utilization in enhancing the quality of managerial decision making.
Objectives
To provide comprehensive catalytic support for education and development of young mei4 and women in management and related areas, in a disciplined environment, in consonance with the contemporary needs of the industry.
To provide an effective forum for interaction between academics and organizational decision makers through consulting and training programmes for enhancing organizational efficiency.
To promote quality research, both theoretical and applied, aimed at building and
documenting knowledge and developing indigenous literature on management.
To inculcate in the students a spirit of leadership based on values of national heritage and tradition and the society and prepare them to face challenges of management of change.
The MBA Programme
In the two-year residential MBA programme, much emphasis is laid on the integrated understanding of the management philosophy and socioeconomic interrelationships. The curriculum is comparable to the same in well-known business schools in India and abroad. With a view to acquiring hands- on business experience, every student is sent to industry to work on projects for a period of eight weeks during summer.
The MCA Programme
The three-year residential MCA programme emphasises on development and integration of the on-going revolution in the field of Information Technology with management theory and practices. The curriculum developed with the help of some of the best known experts is distinctive and would prepare the students to assume leadership in applying their knowledge and skills in computers and information technology to a wide variety of professional situations in business. With a view to acquiring hands-on business experience, every student is sent to the industry to work on projects for a minimum period of thirty weeks during the programme.
Admission Process
Through National Admission Test (NAT). Candidates qualifying in NAT are called for Group Discussion and Interview for final selection at Calcutta. Candidates for MCA are required to take an additional test on mathematics and logic.
Admissions eligibility for MBA: At least a 3 year Bachelor's Degree (10+2+3 system) in any discipline or equivalent recognised by the Association of Indian Universities as eligible for Post Graduate studies with minimum 50% marks in aggregate. Honours graduates with minimum of 50% marks in honours papers are also eligible. Candidates who would be completing all requirements for the Bachelor degree by 30 June of the year of intended admission can also apply; such candidates if selected will be admitted provisionally and they will be required to produce evidence to establish their eligibility by 15th October of the year of intended admission, failing which they are required to withdraw from the Programme.
Admissions eligibility for MCA : In addition to above eligibility requirements, candidate must have studied mathematics at least up to (10+2) level.
Co-Curricular Activities
Students extra-curricular activities are a vital part of the campus life and complements classroom lessons. Students conduct and participate in debates, quizzes, cultural programmes and professional forums.
Infrastructure
Excellent infrastructural facilities are available for overall development of the students . These include:
* Two full-fledged air-conditioned Computer Laboratory and an air- conditioned class room with a node for each pair of students
* Campus-wide computer network through three Servers
* Internet facility.
* Air-conditioned Lecture Halls
* Air-conditioned Library
Placement
The placement Cell facilitates on campus interviews for suitable placements in the industry for the final year students. The Cell also arranges summer placement for the students. Industry - institute interface Programmes
NIMC offers short term training programmes on some selected aspects of management designed for industry executives. Tailor made management training programmes are also conducted at the request of organizations. Besides, NIMC's eminently competent faculty members are available for consulting assignments.
